This week marks an exciting milestone for the Sacred Stories project as the Listening Tour officially begins in L’Arche Chicago.

Over the next four months, a film crew from EverAble will travel across the country in an RV, visiting more than 20 L’Arche communities to sit down with members and listen to their “sacred stories” of faith, friendship, community, and shared life. These interviews will form the heart of a national storytelling project that lifts up the spiritual wisdom and lived experiences of people with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities in L’Arche.

Sacred Stories is a five-year initiative designed to amplify voices that are too often overlooked and to invite the wider world into deeper reflection on belonging, leadership, and faith. Through film, audio prayers, retreats, and educational resources, the project will share the vibrant spiritual life of L’Arche communities with audiences across the United States.

The Listening Tour is the first step in gathering these powerful stories. From living rooms and community tables to gardens and gathering spaces, the EverAble team will be capturing authentic conversations that reflect the beauty and depth of life in L’Arche.

Along the way, we’ll be sharing behind-the-scenes photos, sneak peeks, and stories from the road, offering a glimpse into this remarkable journey across the country.
