Job Summary:
Rooted in Imagine!’s commitment to opportunity for all abilities and aligned with L’Arche NOCO’s philosophy of shared living, a House Leader creates a home environment where core members (adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities) are known, supported, and valued.
This role centers on sustaining a shared home in which each individual’s voice, goals, health, and autonomy shape daily life. The House Leader serves as the primary steward of a shared living home, cultivating a rhythm of life grounded in community and mutuality, supporting each person’s growth and aspirations while participating alongside them in daily living tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and individualized supports. The House Leader operates as an independent contractor under agreement with Imagine!.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality of Life and Person-Centered Support:
- Support individuals in pursuing personal goals, skill development, meaningful relationships, and fun.
- Provide supervision and structured support consistent with individual service plans.
- Promote dignity, autonomy, and authentic self-expression in daily interactions.
- Collaborate with Imagine! staff, L’Arche team members, healthcare providers, and other supports to ensure health, safety, and well-being.
Home & Community Life:
- Honor and elevate each individual’s voice in decisions affecting daily routines, goals, and home life.
- Participate actively in shared daily life, including meals, routines, and celebrations.
- Encourage participation in activities inside and outside the home.
- Contribute to a culture of mutual respect, consistency, and belonging within the home.
- Practice responsible stewardship of the home environment, shared spaces, and resources.
- Nurture belonging.
Compliance & Professional Standards:
- Meet qualification for and operate in accordance with Colorado HCBS regulations and Imagine! policies.
- Participate in training and quality improvement processes.
- Implement and document supports consistent with each individual’s person-centered support plan.
Compliance is approached not as a separate obligation, but as a structure that safeguards trust, dignity, and sustainable shared life.
Qualifications & Expectations:
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities preferred.
- Demonstrated emotional steadiness, sound judgment, and the ability to remain grounded in complex or high-stress situations.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to collaborate within a team-based support structure.
- Ability to follow Home and Community Based Service (HCBS) standards, documentation expectations, and safety requirements with consistency and care.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
- Background check and references required.

Ongoing Support:
While this role carries significant responsibility, companion home providers/ House Leaders are not expected to carry it alone. Imagine! offers the following supports to individuals with disabilities in shared living:
- 24/7 access to service coordination and nursing consultation
- Ongoing training and professional development
- Wraparound services, including behavioral health, mental health, employment, and other day services
The structure is designed to ensure both sustainability for the provider and stability for the individuals supported.
Ongoing Support:
- Daily reimbursement rate varies based on level of support needs
- Certain reimbursements may qualify for tax advantages under IRS Notice 2014-7
- Independent contractor agreement required
