Remembering Valsan Pulikodan

Valsan Pulikodan holding hands with another L'Arche community member

Dear Friends,

We are saddened to share the passing of Valsan, a much beloved assistant in L’Arche Jacksonville. He passed away early in the morning of October 7th. Valsan dedicated most of his life to loving and serving those with whom he shared life and built community. With 44 years of experience as a live-in L’Arche assistant, he might well have been the longest-serving assistant of all of our communities. What a remarkable story of commitment, devotion and fidelity.

Valsan often referred to his time with Mother Theresa as an incredible blessing in his life. He must be rejoicing as he reunites with her, his own mother, and those dear core members who passed away before him.

L’Arche Jacksonville held a virtual memorial on Thursday, October 8th, and will announce plans for a formal Remembrance Service/Funeral Mass in the near future.

Imagine all the moments of tenderness, celebration, laughter, and connection that Valsan must have shared during his 44 years with L’Arche. His story undoubtedly lives on in the hearts and homes of his own wide community.
