Job Brief:
As a member of the office team, the Maintenance Specialist is responsible for maintaining the overall condition of L’Arche Tahoma Hope’s (LTH) buildings and grounds, both inside and out. This includes event setup as well as preventative and on-going maintenance support. Tasks may be self-directed or assigned by the Office Manager, based on LTH’s operational needs and special projects. Responsibilities related to facility operations include maintaining the appearance, function, and safety of buildings, outdoor areas, mechanical systems and related structures. Primary areas of focus include building structures, landscaping and grounds, fire protection system, HVAC systems, other mechanical, electrical and building components, and vehicles.
Guided by the mission and charter of L’Arche, the Maintenance Specialist plays an important role in ensuring that the properties and facilities support the overall growth and direction of L’Arche Tahoma Hope. This position will start as part-time and may transition to full-time in January.
Key Qualities:
- Strong Customer service and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure to meet scheduled and unscheduled deadlines
- Self-starter with ability to identify, prioritize and execute projects
- Moderate computer skills including logging on to systems, ability to communicate by email, ability to compose documents, enter database information and download forms.
- Able to develop and maintain a working knowledge of the operations and maintenance of security, electrical and mechanical systems
- Able to use hand and power tools with demonstrated understanding of safety procedures
- Comfortable working at heights while using ladders, tractors, etc.
- Capable of supervising and coordinating the work of volunteers, contractors, and vendors

Wage:
- $22.00-$26.00/hour
