Reports To: Director of Residential Services

L’Arche Boston North is an intentional, inter-denominational community that provides homes, residential services, and places of belonging for adults who have intellectual disabilities. Role Summary: The House Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the home and the supervision of direct support professionals. The House manager’s primary purpose is to ensure the safety, health, well-being and development of residents and staff in accordance with DDS regulations and the mission and policies of L’Arche Boston North.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with each individual resident as their primary agency/L’Arche advocate in areasof health and safety, structuring this support according to each individual residents’ preferences and unique needs to maximize their independence and quality of life.
  • Serve as coordinator between residence and day programs and/or workplaces, families, guardians, clinical and medical providers, and leadership within L’Arche, DDS staff, etc.
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle within the home, ensure routine and follow-up medical appointments are completed, assure that medical recommendations are implemented and followed by all staff.
  • Development and implementation of Individualized Support Plans (ISP’s) for all individual residents.
  • Supervise team of Direct Care staff. Participate in the hiring of staff.
  • Supervision of staff including scheduling, payroll, one-to-one supervision, performance evaluations, training and orientation.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and policies.
  • Set up systems for record-keeping, daily routines and practice, and reporting to make sure that all activities are in compliance with DDS regulations and follow L’Arche Boston North policies and procedures.
  • Provide emergency coverage of the home as needed. (Including on-call physical
    coverage)
  • Oversee medication supplies and coordinate ordering and delivery of medications.
  • Administers and oversees the timely and accurate administration and documentation of administration of medication(s).
  • Participate in transitions of new individuals into the home.
  • Responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the home and vehicles.
  • Implements and oversees the implementation of behavioral interventions.
  • Implements and oversees the implementation of emergency procedures that ensure the safety of the individuals, both in the home and within the community.
  • Maintains a physically safe work environment and reports work related injuries/incidents to Human Resources in a timely manner.
  • Conduct staff meetings regularly to ensure open and clear communication, build the team, and provide training.
  • Oversee and monitor the management of individual and agency funds, make sure program funds are used wisely and appropriately.
  • Model and encourage regular participation for all individuals in recreational and community opportunities, supporting people to develop and maintain meaningful relationships.
  • Participate in weekly meetings, events and celebrations as a member of L’Arche Boston North
  • Serve as an active member of the community’s leadership team, participates in collaborative decision making, mutual support, strategic planning

Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities
  • Bachelor’s Degree in human services or a related field preferred. High School diploma or GED required.
  • Supervisory, managerial, administrative, and clinical skills required
  • Must have Medication Administration, CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a minimum of 1 year of driving experience.
  • Regular and predictable attendance
  • Computer literacy and be able to document electronically
  • Local travel within our service communities in the Merrimack Valley area

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee occasionally required to stand, walk, climb stairs without assistance, hear and respond to alarms, shovel emergency evacuation walk-ways in event of snow, provide physical hands on support to individuals during evacuations, this including using a wheelchair, rolling bed, or providing physical assistance, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and move without restriction. The employee is often required to bend, stoop, kneel or stand for 15 minutes at a time to support core members ADL’s including hands-on assistance with showering and bathing, personal hygiene, dressing, and meal preparation. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Bend, stoop, kneel or stand for more than 15 minutes at a time and lift 25lbs independently.
