L’Arche Chicago is seeking an organized, collaborative, and gifted leader with exceptional communication and judgment skills who is a self-motivated member of a collaborative leadership team that oversees effective direct care services in our homes to ensure the health, safety, and well being of the core members (people with developmental disabilities).
The Director of Residential Services directly encourages, trains, and supports House Coordinators and Assistants to provide high quality service provision in our homes that embrace the core values of L’Arche, thus resulting in high quality care for individuals with developmental disabilities and a thriving working environment for Assistants.
The ideal candidate will have experience leading and supervising teams, as well as experience working together with people with developmental disabilities.
In collaboration with the Director of Care, supervise House Coordinators and Assistants in the provision of services concerning medical, emotional, psychiatric, and physical needs of core members.
Oversee continued compliance with the State of Illinois requirements for all L’Arche programming. Audits and reviews individual core member records to ensure compliance and that L’Arche policies are maintained.
Lead the orientation and training of House Coordinators and Assistants in compliance with State mandated certification and training and holds House Coordinators and Assistants to the highest standards and practices of care.
Oversee the implementation of core member Annual Plans and completion of their goals in partnership with the Director of Care.
Oversee the record keeping for each individual core member’s permanent record – i.e. legal documents, medical information and documentation, Annual Plan documentation, and financial information.
Lead weekly Leadership Team meetings with House Coordinators.
Attend house team meetings, professional services meetings, and other meetings as needed to effectively support high quality care provision for the core members.
Advocate on the behalf of core members with DDS Service Coordinators, families, consultants, and other professionals to ensure the individual needs and desires of core members are met.
Coordinate care-giving resources, ongoing professional development opportunities, and trainings for Assistants.
Supervise and evaluate the House Coordinators with a person-centered, strengths and gifts based approach to their development.
Work collaboratively with House Coordinators in problem solving, information sharing, and team building.
Continue to build and evolve L’Arche Chicago’s talent development processes including organizational core competencies, goal-setting, performance metrics, 360 degree feedback, coaching, and semi- annual reviews of House Coordinators and Assistants.
Conduct quarterly reviews for each House Coordinator and support House Coordinators in leading and conducting annual performance reviews of Assistants.
Create weekly shared time schedules.
Lead recruitment, hiring, and orientation efforts of Assistants.
Attend professional meetings as required to share best practices among agencies, network, and collaborate.
Involved in the application and intake process for screening and evaluating potential new core members. Together with appropriate members of the Leadership Team will coordinate the selection and orientation of new Core Members.
Seek out opportunities for personal growth. Model life sharing and the values of L’Arche for others.
Assess changing needs of community in collaboration with Leadership Team. Participate in community-level decision-making.

Maintains on-call availability in case of emergency and participates in relief coverage in emergency situations as directed by the Executive Director.
