As part of the International Federation of L’Arche Communities, L’Arche USA recognizes the beautiful diversity of our cultures and religions, as well as the vast disparity in access to material resources. We are thus called to promote understanding and interdependence among the countries and communities of L’Arche.
At the international level, L’Arche lives solidarity in three specific ways:

  • Twinning: A privileged, enduring relationship deliberately chosen between two communities from different cultures. Through twinning, communities offer each other mutual support and deeper understanding of how to live out their mission through prayer, visits, and communicating through letters and online.
  • Sharing: Financial gifts support the 30 L’Arche communities that exist in financially resource poor parts of the world. In the U.S., these gifts are collected locally and nationally, then transferred to L’Arche International for distribution. View L’Arche International’s 2016 Solidarity Album to find out how your gift can help.
  • Serving: At the request of communities, experienced assistants are sent on specific mid and long-term missions, to provide a formative presence.

Note: Our commitment to solidarity is not limited to L’Arche communities. We also seek to build relationships with other organizations that work to promote justice and unity in our world.
