Jean Vanier Video Series Developed by The Work of the People
A new video series featuring Jean Vanier has been developed by the organization, The Work of the People, which describes itself as a community of artists, storytellers, filmmakers, poets and theologians who create visual media for the church to re-orient God’s people around the good news. Travis Reed, a film maker from Texas, and Steve Frost of Vancouver took a small pilgrimage to Trosly-Breuil, France, to meet with Jean. Over the course of a few days they filmed Jean in his personal study. These intimtae conversations are soon to be released as video curriculum by The Work of the People. To view the video clips, please visit the Work of the People website. You can also view one of the videos, “Become Weaker,” here.

A Father’s Quest To Help His Severely Disabled Son: Ian Brown on NPR
Ian Brown, a writer for Toronto’s The Globe and Mail newspaper, speaks with National Public Radio’s Terry Gross about his new memoir, The Boy in the Moon which chronicles his journey to come to terms with his son’s rare disorder. “All I really want to know is what goes on inside his off-shaped head,” Brown writes, “But every time I ask, he somehow persuades me to look into my own.” The book also presents L’Arche in an original way, as Brown’s research led him to visit L’Arche Montreal and Jean Vanier at L’Arche Trosly. Brown writes that L’Arche is the model, par excellence, for those who are most vulnerable, precisely because it is utopian – society in general not being ready for such an ideal.
